    How is guar gum viscosity tested?

    Guar gum viscosity is measured on a 1% aqueous solution using a Brookfield viscometer (typically LV/RV spindle) at 25°C, after a standardized hydration period, with results reported in centipoise (cps). Buyer and supplier must agree on spindle number, rotation speed (rpm) and hydration time so specification values are directly comparable. B D Guar (ISO 9001:2015, since 1983) issues a Certificate of Analysis (COA) with every lot.

    How is guar gum viscosity measured?

    Viscosity is developed on a 1% w/w aqueous solution stirred to full dispersion, then read on a Brookfield viscometer at 25°C after a standardized hydration window — buyers commonly specify 2 hours, with 20-minute and 1-hour protocols also in use. Results are reported in centipoise (cps); for comparable numbers, the spindle type, rpm and hydration time must be agreed in advance. Food and industrial HICOL grades (HICOL-3500, HICOL-4000, HICOL-4500, HICOL-5000, HICOL-5500) are qualified this way, while fast-hydrating HICOL-FH oil-drilling grade is read on a Fann Model 35SA at the 3-minute mark for hydraulic-fracturing service qualification.     What quality parameters are on a guar gum COA?

    Every COA reports galactomannan / gum content (≥80%), moisture (≤12%), protein (≤5%), ash (≤1.5%), acid-insoluble residue (≤3%), pH of the 1% solution (5.5–7.0), particle size / mesh (100–400 mesh, with 200–300 mesh standard), viscosity in cps, and microbiological limits. Custom limits are available via custom guar gum manufacturing.

    What microbiological tests are run on food-grade guar gum?

    Food-grade lots are screened for standard plate count, yeast & mould, coliforms, E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas. Detailed limits are covered in our microbiological standards article.

    How does mesh size affect performance?

    Finer mesh (200–300) hydrates faster and is preferred where quick viscosity build-up matters, while coarser 100 mesh develops viscosity more slowly and reduces lumping in dry blends. Mesh is selected per application together with viscosity grade.

    How is purity and consistency verified?

    Beyond routine wet chemistry, advanced analytical methods such as HPLC are used to confirm purity and batch-to-batch consistency. Under our ISO 9001:2015 quality system every lot ships with a COA, backed by our controlled manufacturing process and 12,000 MT/year capacity serving 50+ countries.

    What test methods do you use for viscosity?

    Food and industrial Guar Gum is tested on Brookfield BV1.04B and BV103B viscometers at 1% solution, 25°C, after 2-hour hydration. Oilfield fast-hydrating grade uses Fann Model 35SA rheology at 6 ppt loading for 28–34 cP target — the standard for hydraulic-fracturing service-company qualification.

    Is a COA included with every shipment?

    Yes. Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis covering viscosity, mesh, moisture, protein, ash, AIR, pH, Salmonella, E. coli, total plate count, yeast / mould and aflatoxin (food grade) — on B D Guar letterhead or your private-label format.

    Do you retain samples for traceability?

    Yes. Every production batch generates a retain sample held for 24 months (food grade) or 36 months (oilfield) under controlled humidity and temperature. Retain samples enable lot-level investigation if a downstream issue arises.

    Which certifications back the quality system?

    ISO 9001:2015 quality management, ISO 22000 food safety, FSSAI license, HALAL (JAKIM-recognized), Kosher (OU), Organic (NPOP / USDA / EU), FDA 21 CFR 184.1339 GRAS compliance, and EU E412 conformity. Audit reports available under NDA.

    Do you do third-party testing?

    Yes. Pre-shipment SGS, Bureau Veritas, Cotecna or Intertek third-party inspection available at customer cost — common for first-time buyers and tier-1 oilfield service companies. We also accept customer-appointed auditors at the Kalol facility with 14 days' notice.

    What happens if a batch fails spec?

    Out-of-spec batches are quarantined, root-cause analyzed (raw split, process or QC instrument), reworked or downgraded, and never shipped against the original spec. Customers receive replacement on the next production slot with a non-conformance report and CAPA documentation.
